IF with an inconsistent schedule + night shift

Sorry if this has been asked before.

I’ve tried IF before, and I liked it, however my schedule is weird and it can make fasting a little tricky. I work two 12-hour overnight shifts per week (7p-7a). The rest of the time, I have normal waking and sleep hours as I have to take care of my two young children when I’m not at work. For non-work days, I like to fast for breakfast and then eat lunch and dinner (16:8 for now). The two days I work really throw me off because it’s super difficult to work overnight and not have at least something small to eat. Any suggestions? Is it really throwing everything off if I have snack at some point during the night?

Answer

Take the two night shifts off from IF. Eat when you need to in order to get through it.

IF doesn’t have to be the same all the time. You can adjust it for your schedule. Just make sure these extra calories are counted as part of one of the days.

Answer

I work a similar schedule, and try to eat later in the day (after 2 or 4pm) wether I’m working or not. This is usually OMAD, or OMAD+snack later on work days, and then a longer eating window on the “weekends”.
