Anyone skipping dinner instead of breakfast?

I started 16:8 twelve days ago. All is going well. Not eating any special way but have only had one glass of wine so far. It works for me because it’s easy to skip breakfast while my family has theirs. Usually we aren’t all sitting down and eating breakfast at the same time anyhow.

During this time we haven’t met up with any friends or socialized so it’s been really simple. However, in 6 weeks we will go on vacation with friends. I’m trying to figure out if I should just stop IF during that time and enjoy myself, or change my eating window to include breakfast (it’s included in our hotel rate and we will probably all eat together) and exclude dinner. But that also means I wouldn’t be able to have any evening drinks.

Other option is to stay the course and maybe increase to 18:6 and throw in two “cheat” days where I don’t fast at all?

I just went skiing the other week, and during my vacation I didn’t fast. Mainly because I knew I needed a good amount of energy to last the whole day, since I would mostly be skiing from morning to evening.

I mostly ate healthy stuff, but I also got bacon each morning, since I was on vacation. Now I’m home, and back to the usual 18:6

If it’s a relatively short trip like a week or whatever, I’d just say screw it and enjoy. Especially if you’re going abroad, food is such a great gateway into other cultures and I wouldn’t want to miss out on the experience.

I haven’t gone on a real vacation since starting IF, but during the holidays I definitely threw caution to the wind during my time off and just went straight back to OMAD on Jan 1. Too much nostalgia, traditions and family gatherings I didn’t want to miss out on.

I’m going on a special vacation in September.

While I don’t intentionally fast on vacation/weekend getaways, I find I don’t want heavy in the evening, even if I skipped breakfast.

So see if that might be true for you, in so far as wanting breakfast.

The good part is if it’s a continental breakfast included in the room rate, you get lighter stuff by choice. But I always get a waffle, if available. Because vacation.

It’s a week or two out of the year.
