Are vitamins, supplements ok while fasting?

I usually take a fish oil supplement and a multivitamin. I’ve been trying to remember to take it after I break my fast, but my routine was to always take it with breakfast at 6:00 and now I forget from time to time.

Answer

It is fine from the standpoint of not breaking the fast. But multivitamins can irritate an empty stomach and cause nausea, so it might be better to take them after you eat. (This varies from person to person. Some people are fine taking them on an empty stomach. Personally, if I try that, I throw up.)

And I think fish oil is better absorbed with food? Someone double check me on that.

Answer

My ritual (I know it sounds dramatic - lol), is to take my supplements right before I break my fast. I’m an OMAD’er. After my food is plated and I’m ready to sit for dinner, I take my supplements. Not sure if it’ll help you. But, it helps me remember to take them because I have a “break fast ritual”.
