Avoid Muscle loss during 20 day Water fast.

I know there will be some amount of muscle loss but I want to minimize it, what do I do? I know that during brisk exercises, the body starts taking energy from protein so I won’t be doing a lot of cardio but should I do weights? Muscle Training? Someone told me that if I do weight training during fasting, I’ll just be destroying muscles and won’t be getting an intake on protein to heal them so they’ll be lost. It seems pretty logical but then again our ancestors used to fast for days due to not having enough food, losing muscle in such situations wasn’t evolutionarily optimal so that’s the sole purpose of fat right?
I’m confused, please give me some advice!

Answer

You need to work out to preserve muscle mass. Lift heavy, but not enough reps to tire yourself out or beat up your body because you don’t want to challenge your body’s ability to recover, you just want to signal it that it needs to maintain your strength.
