Boron. Collagen. Glutamine.

I see people take these things in supplement form, or endeavour to take in more by way of diet. I understand that Boron doesn’t have an RDA, and that the human body can manufacture both Glutamine and Collagen.

Would anyone be able to speak to whether or not taking these items in supplemental form would be beneficial or not? Especially Boron, as I have heard that like magnesium, soil levels of this mineral are simply not replenished by our industrial farming methods. Any insight would be appreciated.

Thank you kindly.

Answer

When adult animals are fed diets with extra glycine and less methionine and tryptophan, relative to typical diets, they can live considerably longer. Collagen has an amino acid profile like this. Whether this holds for humans is not as well established.

Answer

I know the scientific evidence for collagen is not there (yet), more studies are needed.

BUT.

The anecdotal evidence is outstanding. I have recently moved to Korea where collagen supplementation is extremely popular - everyone here has visibly much much better skin. That is supposedly due to a collagen rich diet and supplementation.

I’ve recently started this last week so I’m interested to see the results for myself, if any.
