Do all electrolyte products suck?

I am looking for an electrolyte product on Amazon, and every product has at least some 1-star reviews stating everything from “horrible taste” to “I’ve been vomiting for 12 hours.”

I’m starting down the path of just buying pure Sodium, Potassium and Chloride and mixing it myself. Before I do, I thought I’d ask you fine people: Are there any products you use that you absolutely love?

Answer

I use Xtend BCAA electrolyte powder from Walmart (it’s on Amazon too)

I’m not an expert at what doses are best so I don’t know if it’s top notch quality but it tastes amazing, has 0 calories, and hydrates the hell out of me

Answer

I make my own drink mixes with exactly what I need and when.

Especially considering there is no one size fits all product. I don’t need to drink something designed for a 50 mile ultra in 90 degree heat when I’m doing a simple 5 mile recovery run on the treadmill.

Answer

There are (apparently) some good tasting ones, Ultima, Revive, LMNT, we have a good one here called Rehidrat.

But honestly, all you need is a little salt, true story.

Just some redman real salt or pink himalayan salt on your food is all you really need to concern yourself with unless you find yourself genuinely feeling a bit odd, then yeah an electrolyte/hydration supp is a solid move.
