Does anyone just do IF without any changes at all to their diet? How does that work for you?

I’ve always associated IF with a lifestyle overhaul, change everything for the better - no sugar, no processed foods, more physical activity etc. but are there people staying on the diets they’ve always had and achieving lasting weight loss just by changing the times they eat?

Answer

“Don’t deny, just delay” means my caloric intake is way way less simply because the opportunities are way way less. Plus, a huge bonus of IF is that your appetite shifts toward whole nutritious foods, and you crave less processed junk.

Answer

I cut out sugar just because I was pre diabetic then, but yeah, pretty much just doing OMAD and eating whatever I want. My A1c is back to normal, can introduce sugar again but don’t feel like it. Want to clock an year or two without sugar. I think I had a lifetimes worth of sugar, so not really missing it. Perhaps I miss ice cream. Started May 1st.

3 days a week I do 24hr fasts. Eat like an animal whenever I want outside of that. Seems pretty balanced. I sort of hover between 75-80kg with 75 being like the lowest I have maintained and 80 being the highest when I sort of get to the end of the week.

Answer

Same diet since before IF. Only difference is cut out sugar. Also limit sweet coffee(with cream) to after meal 1 and meal 2 which are roughly 1-2 hours apart depending on how hungry I want to eat that day. I’m still on track and have lost 2 inches off my waist since. Some days are better than others but meal time just stays in the 21:3 to 23:1 range.

Answer

Yes I did that in the past but I learned the hard way that a high sugar diet doesn’t gel well with IF and you get reeealllly hungry. In a way, IF taught me better food habits because I was encouraged to cook something half decent before the eating window ended. It was the beginning of mending my terrible food habits, partly from the way I was raised, partly from years of low income, partly from an awful misdiagnosed illness.

Answer

Me! The only real caloric difference is not having the toast in the morning and the late night potato chips. No weight loss on the scale, but i now fit into pants i couldnt and also got a more defined jaw :)
