Does fasting make CICO easier?

I am mostly doing CICO (calories in calories out) to try and lose weight. I also try to do IF, but it can get hard with my work schedule.

Previously, I was only doing IF (no calorie counting) and was losing weight until the holidays. I stopped and when I got back on track I found that my appetite was insatiable, so I had to start calorie counting.

In the past I have been prone to boredom eating, depression eating, stuff like that, but this feels different, like I will genuinely feel starving when I shouldn’t. I suspect my body got used to eating too much calories during the weeks I wasn’t on it with my diet. I’m thinking a 1-2 day fast might help.

Has anyone done a fast as a means to get their appetite under control? I am suspecting one will help, but I will also need to readjust for a while and may need to do more than one.

Thanks in advance for your input!

I agree with DoctorBigglesworth. There are two ways to establish a change in routine. Gradually work up to it over time, the most common way, or significantly exceed the new routine for a sufficient duration so that retreating back down to the desired routine seems comfortable, sort of how baseball players use donut weights when on-deck. If I were you, I’d actively fast 96 hour, achieve a deep ketosis, and then retreat into OMAD <90 min window. This protocol has yet to fail me. Good luck and keep us posted!
