Doing rolling 48s, have a question about refeeds

Hi guys,

When you refeed and eat carbs do you experience a drop in energy?

I am 3 rounds into rolling 48 hour fasts - lunch every other day. On refeed I have eaten carbs on two of my refeeds and felt an increase in tiredness and lethargy. Today for example I ate bacon, egg, tomato and lettuce in white Lebanese (pita) bread wrap, with some ketchup and mayonnaise. And now I’m feeling low in energy.

I’m just wondering if this is normal.

Also what’s best to break fast with? I’m thinking I’ll avoid carbs and stick to fish and steamed veges from now on.

Answer

Carbs are a bitch on fasting refeeds, cut them down until you get to a desired weight. There are tons of keto recipes you can do.

From your list it looks like the bread was the culprit, there are plenty of keto breads that can be a substitute for the wheat pita bread. Look into almond, coconut (cheaper) flours and breads made using them. If you have no oven to bake them then look for almond/coconut wheat tortilla/paratha/roti recipes, plenty of them around and they taste great plus you can lather them in butter or even fry them to get those extra fat macros in.
