Fasting healthy if doing heavy labor???

I want to do an extended fast but I work a heavy manual labor job. Will this affect my output, or make me lightheaded, etc? If it will or if it could, what should I do?

I think it’s fine if you’re experienced. If you are new to fasting and you aren’t metabolically flexible you risk low blood sugar and electrolyte issues. That being said, I don’t believe this is the right sub for the question, but I only recently joined.

I agree with other comments, and to add on: I can do 3 day fasts and workout everyday and feel amazing, no drop off in performance. But I built up to that. For really long fasts, like >3-5 days, I think it’s usually recommended not to workout (at least heavily). Start with smaller fasting windows and exercising through it, like 16-24 hr fasts and get used to that. Then try 2day fasts, etc.
Your output would likely be affected if you aren’t fat-adapted yet. Once you are, then it recovers and you’ll have more energy.
