Fasting when sleep-deprived

I am finding it so much harder to make it to the end of my planned 18 hour fast when I am sleep-deprived. (The 2 year old let me get about 2 hours of sleep last night.) Posting for accountability. If there are other sleep-deprived folks out there, let’s still achieve our fasting goals…

It’s good to stay focused on your goals, but don’t forget to listen to your body. Be kind to yourself and give yourself a bit of space if you need it. If it means ending your fasting window a bit earlier to nourish your body, then so be it! Good luck!

I totally get it. I go through bouts of insomnia, and the morning after a bad night of “sleeping” is the hardest. I want to eat all the carby things! Just gotta push through. Sometimes I cave, but it’s usually by starting my eating window early and allowing one snack between lunch and dinner.

Ugh. Today is actually one of those days. I’m giving myself an 8 hour window instead of a 6. As I type, I’m having a pack of Lance crackers which I rarely have! But it’s OK! I had a healthy lunch and im sticking with the 8 hour window today, no harm no foul.

Its your parasympathetic nervous system screaming at you to eat something and go to sleep. It can be defeated with caffine, nicotine and other stimulants. Should you do this tho? Probably not. Eat something withing your planned calories and get some sleep.

The whole point of fasting for me was so I stop eating junk food and drinks

Try putting yourself in a calorie deficit meaning don’t fast just be mindful of what you eat and have healthy meals
