Been doing 20+ for about 2 weeks now and finally saw a little nsv, but went out for drinks yesterday, and now today I only did 16 hrs and over ate quite a bit and feel bad about it. Thanks for letting me chat. š
Things will come up such as drinks with friends or going out for dinners and you shouldnāt have to deny yourself these experiences, venturing out of your fasting window from time to time will not erase all of your progress. IF is a lifestyle and I believe indulging every now and then makes it more sustainable for the long term, no need to feel guilty :)
I started doing 20 hour fasts in mid Aug, Ive consistently lost 2 pounds a week and feel great. I went on vacation last week and ate and drank within reason, but def no fasting. I was so worried when I got home and got on the scale - but I only gained 1 pound. It did take me 3 days to adjust back to 20 hours.
But, now I know that if I go to dinner with friends or have a glass of wine after work once in a while i will not feel like Iām ācheating ā or doing something wrong.
Get back on the horse. Thatās the best thing here.
Butā¦ Laying this lifestyle in, you gotta be boring for a while until the habits can cement themselves. Keep that in mind as you are planning. Remind yourself that you may not be ready to be in a place where indiscriminate eating and drinking happen.
There is a crowd who will say marathon not sprint, but itās moreso a long long path with many diversions that you have to learn to ignore
Donāt stress about it. You gotta live, too.
Went for a gourmet grilled cheese tomato soup and fries in the middle of my fasting window yesterday. Why?
Because it was a nice afternoon break with my SO.
Today back to the fasting.
Intermittent Fasting is there to help me manage my weight so i can indulge sometimes. Going to dinner last night and having cake is part of enjoying it.
Sometimes i over do it and feel shit the next day, Iām 36 and still learning to manage that
Youāre doing great! donāt worry!I purposely started lengthening my eating window on weekends to account for more social & family friendly eating times. I kept reading that changing up your eating routine can actually help some with weightloss.. keeps the body guessing. I allow for the occasional dessert/treats, drinks so I donāt feel so restricted but during the week I eat low carb on an 18/6 schedule and honestly it keeps me on track to losing weight. Granted I do follow with a 42-48hr fast after Sunday dinners. This past weekend I was out of town with my hubby & kiddo and over ate for sureā¦drinks, pasta dinner, brunch and Candies/baked goodsā¦and Iām 5lbs heavier. However, Iām finding it hard to sleep because my body is in overdrive literally sweating off the excess food so I expect in a couple days for my weight to re-establish itself, so Iām glad to be fasting the next 48hrs! Long story short, just pick up the Fasting tomorrow and your body will right itself. Whatās life without a little food & fun?!
