How long to wait to notice results? Feeling discouraged.

Hi all. Apologies if this is a frequent question, but around when should you start to see results and how often do you weigh yourself? I’ve been fasting for 20 hours a day for the past several days and noticed my weight went up 2 lbs . I have been weighing myself everyday and perhaps that may be too frequent?

Would love any insight! Thank you!

I log all of my food in the Lose It! app (and follow its daily recommendations for how many calories I can consume based on my level of activity), eat low carb, and do IF. I don’t do a lot of dedicated exercise but I try to get some walking in as often as possible. I lose anywhere between zero and 3 pounds a week. There are some weeks when I actually gain a little. but overall, I’ve lost 60 pounds since the end of June. It feels extremely slow on a day-to-day basis, but when I look at it over all of these months, it seems quite fast.

Keep at it and don’t give up it’s only been a week it can tend to fluctuate. I weigh my self every 2 weeks. If it’s still going up you might be eating too much during your eating hours, after all CICO(calories in calories out) still matters! Keep going you can do it !

Answer

That’s a loaded question. How much did you weigh to start with, what was your eating habits before, are you eating the right macros, do you have muscle…, so much goes Into it.

I would weigh yourself once a week, in the morning and after you use the bathroom. Other wise you are just stressing yourself out.

If your hydrating plays alot into that weight as well. But Jeremy either has good videos on how long it takes and when you should really start seeing results, the short answer is 4 weeks. Lean muscle will burn more. The first Two weeks, it can be alot if water weight playing with you on the scale.

Stay the course and study videos on different ways to fire up your metabolism. So many little tricks.

I think the best thing I read this week was an app that helps you lose weight and they compare it to baking a cake. If you are just throwing recipes in the the bowl and not measuring or tracking the time, how do you know how the cake will come out, get the recipes right and the baking time and you will get the perfect cake, but it takes time..

Good luck on your journey.

Read the book fast, feast, repeat. It says a lot of people don’t see results for the first month. Also I weigh everyday and record on the app “happy scale” - it averages it out for you over a week/a month because our weight can fluctuate massively daily (I can weigh 5lbs more some days which is just water as it’s impossible to gain 5lbs fat in a day)

Answer

Takes some measurements (Google how to do the properly), take some pictures in as little clothing that you would feel comfortable showing your grandmother, and weigh yourself. Then, put the scale away for at least a month, possibly even 6 weeks. Then compare. Your body is going through all sorts of changes. Like you my wife gained a few in the beginning, but is now down over 30 pounds to her goal range and has been maintaining for over 3 years. Be patient.

Answer

Only weigh yourself once daily, first thing in the morning. Be patient, drink more water, & don’t eat more than you expend in energy. This weight will absolutely come off if you are consistent & patient!
