How to make it easier working in a kitchen?

I work as a baker for a local restaurant. I make breads and cheesecake while I’m at work. I don’t have any problem staying away from the stuff that I’ve made, as it generally isn’t ready to eat by the time I leave, but my coworkers are constantly offering me tastes of the stuff they’re working on to see if it tastes right. There’s always experimenting going on so there’s always something to taste. Can anybody offer any advice on how to make things easier while working in a kitchen? I have no problem saying no, but it’s difficult to not thing about food afterwards and often times I end up eating lunch after my shift when I had intended not to.

Answer

I can feel your struggle, I don’t know if I would be able to work in a kitchen while fasting, so kudos to you for holding strong! I think that drinking enough water & electrolytes can help keep the hunger at bay. Also on a mental level, what I do when I’m facing food temptation while fasting is repeating positive affirmations in my head. Almost like internally hyping yourself up, reminding yourself of your goals & telling yourself it’ll be worth it. Good luck to you!
