I completed my first week of IF

16/8 and have not lost any weight. I work out 4 times this week, did not track calories but ate pretty mindful. Any advice/tips moving forward? I don’t want to quit so I thought I should ask, thank you 😊

If you haven’t lost weight, and haven’t gained weight, then you are at maintenance calories. This is good news though, if you eat just slightly less you will begin shedding the pounds. Like 250-500 calories less spread out though your eating window isn’t too much.

If you go another week without any results I would start counting the calories, at least for a bit to get an idea of how much you are really eating.

Your body is trying to figure out what the heck is going on. Do yourself a favor. Weigh yourself, take pictures and measurements, then put the scale away for at least a month. Do not expect to lose any weight in this month. A lot of adjustments are going on right now. My wife actually gained a few pounds in the beginning, and is now down over 30 lbs to her goal range. Be patient, only good things are happening.

A lot of people think they are “pretty mindful” of what they eat. Keep a food journal, at least, so you can be sure of what you are really eating. Calorie counting, although tedious, is very helpful be make sure how much you are really eating.

It’s only been a week, keep going. You may have to tweak your eating habits.

Congrats and just keep at it!

Two keys for me were: I accurately tracked my calories at the beginning so I could get an idea of what was best for me. Then I relaxed and I eat carefully.

Also, I had two plateaus. I broke the first with increasing my water intake, then I broke the second one by getting a minimum 6000 steps/day.

I also started this week and I’ve been doing 18:6 and so far I’m down 2 lbs however I had a day where I had a bunch of diarrhea from not consuming enough electrolytes. I mostly aim for having a salad to break my fast.

i would track calories for sure. i just finished my second week of IF (16:8 with a few 18:6). i didn’t see a loss in my first week, but weighed in -2.6 today/end of week two! i track calories (1200-1500) and cardio every day.
