Increasing fat intake while staying low omega 6? 🤔

Does anyone have any tips on good sources of healthy fats that are also low in omega 6/high in omega 3 other than fish? Would grass fed beef tallow be one of those items?

Answer

Canola oil and Olive oil are low in omega 6, for a fat, as opposed to corn oil or soybean oil. But mainly it’s better to focus on getting whole food fats like nuts, avocado’s and such. Plant fats come out way better in studies I have seen. I eat one meal of lean red meat or chicken, sometimes fish every day and the rest all whole plant foods like beans, oatmeal, fruits, and vegetables. Walnuts and Flax seeds are high in omega 3. I just buy a big thing of mixed nuts every so often and throw them in my oatmeal. You can get ground flax flour and throw it in most anything. I get it at Walmart. It’s really not that critical unless you are getting an excessive amount of fat that is high in omega 6.

Presumably this is for health.. In which case I’d direct you to this article thoroughly exploring every angle of the omega 6 and seed oil debate.

The ratio argument is really just an argument to increase omega 3, not necessarily reduce omega 6.
