I’ve been monitoring threads in this sub for a month or so. I have seen some tremendous threads and have been encouraged greatly. I know that encouragement is only a start and results come from actually doing it.
I’ve tried IF with no really commitment in place. I’m hoping to start and get into a regular routine with starting and stopping of eating at a set time.
I’ll be 40 in July. Full-time job and family. Currently 6’5 345lbs. Definitely doesn’t get easier as you get older.
Thank you to all have contributed to this sub. I speak for many when I say it’s been an immense motivation to get started!
Trust me, you won’t regret doing IF. I’m 43 and my only regret is that I didn’t start IF when I was younger. Thanks to IF, I lost a huge amount of weight (in fact I lost so much weight that a doctor asked if I had cancer, lol). I have so much more energy and sleep so much better.
My advice to you is to take it slow and get your body used to fasting. Try and watch your diet and remove unnecessary things like processed food and sugar, replace them with whole grains, veggies and fruit.
Take a photo of your body and put it up. I promise you, nothing helps you get more motivated than seeing the weight just drop off. Good luck on your IF journey!
I’m more “mature like a fine wine” than you & I urge you to start doing IF now. It’s not hard, it’s adjustable & you will feel incredible.
Until a few years ago (when beloved was diagnosed with S4 c beast), I was on point with weight, BP & body mechanics. With the caretaking, I ballooned…now that beloved is doing better, I can focus on myself so that I’m there for him & the rest of our family.
Remember, health is your most valuable asset!
I started with 16 hours fasting (mainly sleep hours) & an 8 hour eating window…easy breezy cover girl!!! Be cognizant of eating healthy, hydrating, giving yourself some slack (because life happens) & getting a good amount of physical activity each day.
You got this for sure!
I hear you on staring down the big 4-0. That inspired me to try to get my health in order too (I turn 40 in June). I’m finding fasting to be surprisingly easy. Started by “skipping” breakfasts. Sometimes have lunch, sometimes push it back to an afternoon snack. Sometimes one meal (dinner) a day. And now doing a weekly 42 hr fast and just completed my first 48 hr fast. Other than some (more psychological than physiologic) grumpiness, the 48 hr fast was easy, and I felt productive and focused at work today! I think this really is something our bodies can do and healthfully.
