Intermittent fasting during the week but not on weekends?

I do 20:4 during the week, and the weekend just varies. Sometimes I still manage to get an 18 hour fast in, sometimes we decide to go out for lunch and I eat earlier. I don’t let it get in the way of enjoying life, I just watch what I’m eating.

I’ve been on OMAD for 2 weeks, but on the weekends I break it because I go on long mountain bike rides. It’s worked so far. Basically I try to only eat the calories I estimate I’ll burn on my rides, then eat my big meal after around the same time as I do on weekdays. It hasn’t been hard to get back to the routine on weekdays thus far, but I can’t attest to the results because it’s only been two weeks. I’d suggest that if you’re breaking on weekends it’s because of longer physical activity or other similar reasons. If it’s to be social (drink/eat) you can easily undo what you did all week

I’ve done that (although 14 hours is more what I do on the weekend and longer during weekdays), and I’m down 70 pounds since September 2021.

It will slow down your rate of loss, but in the long run, it’s more important that you stick with something rather than do yo-yo dieting and I feel this helps me easily accomplish that.

I use the weekends for cheat days, but apparently hit it a little too hard this weekend. Even though my calorie count for the week was still at a deficit level, I lost all of the gains I’d made from the previous 2 weeks. Damned chicken piccata…

PS: This is my second attempt at IF and used the 5 days on/2 days off method before, but this time around it doesn’t seem to work that way.
