Is it better to work up to OMAD or is it okay to jump out the gate with it?

I am what you would call a ‘grazer’, it’s my worst habit and then I have usually one solid meal a day. I wanted some input on whether it would be better to start with a 16:8 plan and slowly increase fasting times until I’m at the OMAD stage or is it okay to just start at OMAD and cut out the grazing. And if I do the 16:8 I’m still going to be cutting out grazing! I want to make that very clear it’s a behavior I know isn’t acceptable for myself. But I was going to have light meals every 2ish hours. As long as everything adds up into a healthy level of calorie deficit. Speaking of which, is 1500 cals. low enough? Or still too high? Or worse too low? I want to be very mindful about this and not hurt my body. This whole mission is about healing what I’ve done wrong with a terrible diet for years and getting into healthy habits. I know this isn’t just a ‘diet’. It’s a life style change that include not only the fasting part, but a shift in what I eat as well. Which brings me to the conclusion, are we allowed to ask for recipes here? I would love to know what the seasoned vets of IF love to cook up for themselves and help give me better ideas for healthy things I can cook as well! Thank you for reading.

Currently I’m 275 lbs and 5’4” in height, female.

Answer

I’ve done 2mad and I’m currently on omad. In my experience omad is actually easier. I don’t know how this works it’s crazy but after a week (the first few days will suck) jump straight in. Body will adapt. My advice is to have some black coffee, tea and maybe lemon water or acv. Worry about all the nutrients and stuff later, just start with getting body used to eating the one meal and don’t calorie count to start. Then fine tune as needed :) good luck
