Pregnant- Nauseous after breakfast

Hi, I am very newly pregnant (almost 5 weeks) with my second child. As soon as I found out a few days ago, I stopped my intermittent fasting schedule (16:8 with a 24 hour fast on Mondays). Every day, I’ve felt very nauseous (on the verge of throwing up) after breakfast. I’ve tried to stick whole milk yogurt or kefir as a high protein/high fat way to keep my blood sugar level in the mornings.

Is it just my body adjusting to eating breakfast again? Morning sickness? I’m not nauseous at any other time of day, and while I experienced a tiny bit of sickness with my first child, it was never this bad or this soon in pregnancy. If someone has experienced this before, what do you recommend as a breakfast that might minimize the nausea?

I will definitely be consulting my doctor about all of this, but I don’t have my first appointment with them for another two weeks. If it gets worse in the meantime I will give them a call.

Answer

Sounds like my experience of morning sickness and I know dairy and eggs were particularly hard to keep down until about 20 weeks. I was transitioning off IF too at the time, but I think it was more about the pregnancy than the eating pattern. I had dry crackers and toast to get through. Congratulations and all the best.
