TL;DR asking for thoughts/experiences with low carb OMAD and alternate day fasting?
I (25/F) have put on weight over the past 3 years and can’t seem to take it off like I did when I was a teenager. I was hit back to back by getting a desk job for the first time (previously always had physically demanding jobs), then by the pandemic, then by a break up, etc. I currently sit about 30-35 pounds heavier than I was pre-graduation in 2019. In late 2020 I was able to lose about 10 pounds of the quarantine weight I had gained through CICO + IF, but then ended a 1.5 year relationship and stopped monitoring my food. I need to have a structured plan and meal schedule in order to remain accountable. This is what my plan is: Alternate day fasting OMAD on feeding days Low carb meal plan 2000kcal limit on meal
Does anyone have any experience with the combination? Once I’m back in my goal weight range, I plan to slowly shorten the fasting window to have a more sustainable lifestyle. Advice, tips, and constructive criticism highly appreciated!
Low carb (even keto) isn’t so uncommon with IF.
I started before IF was really a thing, back in 2018. I was eating low carb and added IF (16/8). My schedule often caused me to get home too late to eat dinner in my window. Rather than cheat on my fasting, I skipped dinner. Soon I was eating OMAD (which I’d never heard of - I thought I’d invented something new and extreme!).
I focused on eating healthy foods more than low carb. I could eat at many green beans as I wanted, just really watched stuff like bread, pasta, sweets, that sort of thing. I also ate fruit (except grapes which after super sugary). Potato in moderation. Condiments were fine.
I lost 50 lbs and have maintained the lifestyle for 4 years. I love actually living and eating this way. And there are a ton of health benefits.
So absolutely yes. Eating lower carb queued great with IF.
