Thoughts on combining ADF with OMAD?

I’m (34/F) just wrapping up day 86 of my current round of fasting which primarily consisted of OMAD. I have an event next month that I decided to challenge myself with including Alternate Day Fasting (ADF) in addition to OMAD - I’m eating once every other day at this point. I have a few questions for those who have attempted this protocol:

  1. I dropped a significant amount of weight my first week (5 lbs) - OMAD I was lucky to lose 1 lb. Is a sudden drop normal even though I’ve already have been doing OMAD? I’m a little alarmed of how fast it came off (most within 2 days).
  2. After breaking my fast I have about a 2 hour window where I suddenly feel somewhat lightheaded/foggy minded. It’s to the point where I am looking at shifting my meal time from morning to evening just to ensure I am focused at work. Is this common for anyone else?
  3. Anyone use a Fitbit/Heart Rate monitor and notice that they hit “fat burning mode” incredibly quicker than before? I have a habit of standing at my desk during meetings and even though I’ve only worked (at home at my desk) my fitbit is showing me having 2.5 hours of Fat Burning Mode.
  4. With ADF - what days do you lift/workout?
  5. Has anyone gained while transitioning back from ADF to OMAD? I’m not sure if I’ll keep up this protocol after my event (20 days) or possibly transition to more of a 4-3 protocol to give me an extra day of eating.

Thanks for any feedback!

I wouldn’t put too much on first week results because a large part of that 5lbs is water fluctuation. The food in your body acts as a sponge holding onto water. An absence of food is also an absence of water and the absence of just the physical mass of food and waste generated from eating. You can have massive swings in weight from just that difference alone. For that reason, I’d probably only weigh on mornings after you’ve eaten for the most direct comparisons between diet methods.

Seems like a long time to be going without any nutrition.

If you really want to hit a goal quickly, best bet is to go pure carnivore. Zero carbs or as close as possible. Eat 2mad or OMAD and do your fitness routine.

I bet if you do it for the next few weeks you’ll probably just want to stay on it once you realize how amazing you feel
