I notice that when I eat certain foods at the start of my fast, I get more hungry near the end of it than when I eat other foods
I usually start with protein and veggies and end my eating window with fat like nuts, because fat makes the body feel satiated.
The worst thing you can possibly do imo is end your eating window with sugar and carbs. It will make you feel hungry afterwards.
I go for something that’s bland and at the same time rich in fiber or protein. Plain green vegetables, meat or fish, eggs, lentils or legumes, in quantities sufficient to keep me occupied for a minimum of 10 minutes, are typical priority items. Other vegetables and sources of dietary fat are okay as well, so long as not too tasty either inherently or as the result of having being combined with other ingredients. For instance I don’t find potatoes to pose too much of a hindrance to satiety on their own, but pureed with a whole lot of butter, or much worse yet fried, they are bound to lead to over-consumption. Furthermore, some foods score decently on the satiety promotion scale but also exhibit great calorie-density and therefore require some degree of preemptive portion control; e.g. fatty cheese or nuts. Unlike u/ChungWuEggwua, I don’t mind fruits or high-GI vegetables closer to the end, though options heavy in flour or sugar I’ll definitely do my best to steer clear of.
TL;DR: Subjectively optimal fast-breaker = adequate fiber or protein content + adequate volume (low calorie-density) + low palatability
I just have my last mail as dinner so whatever I eat for dinner - usually rice or potatoes with Quorn or tofu
It doesn’t really make much difference for me - sometimes I have desert if I’ve got the calories although in truth it doesn’t really matter much
eggs, any kind of eggs, boiled, scrambled, poached, omelette, with veggies like tomatoes & spinach etc, or with meats like sausage or fish, or mushrooms, cheese, etc.. & doesn’t matter how much I eat, too much/ too little, still works
