What is this study trying to say about aspartame?

Hey guys, so I am avid coke zero drinker which is made from aspartame, and for the longest time, I thought it was safe because it was supposedly one of the most studied products ever made but I came across this article today but since English is my second language it was hard to understand the conclusion of this article. Does it say it is dangerous to consume aspartame? Were ways to find out if it’s a dangerous product legit?

Hi.

> The existing animal studies and the limited human studies suggest that aspartame and its metabolites, whether consumed in quantities significantly higher than the recommended safe dosage or within recommended safe levels, may disrupt the oxidant/antioxidant balance, induce oxidative stress, and damage cell membrane integrity, potentially affecting a variety of cells and tissues and causing a deregulation of cellular function, ultimately leading to systemic inflammation.

These are mice studies. The artificial sweetener stuff has been going on for decades and because nutrition studies are usually either mice studies or epidemiology studies one thing gets said and the media propagandizes and overblows the study. There’s nothing harmful about aspartame by itself. I would recommend not to drink coke specifically for the caramel coloring and other shit, but even that’s not really THAT harmful to you. Diet soda has been shown to help aid in weight loss tremendously. The benefits outweigh the small harms it might cause. The only definitive bad thing about drinking soda is that it’s not great for your teeth. If you are going to drink it then drink with a straw.

Weird personal factoid. I cannot eat or drink anything made with aspartame sucralose or any of their subsetsJust a sip is all it takes for me to know if it is present. It makes me severely nauseous and if I actually drank a can if Coke zero I would violently vomit and feel suck for a day.

i only recently decided to give up diet drinks after coming to the realization it’s not normal to be drinking a litre or more of diet softdrink/cordial every day especially after reading some of these articles about how bad sweetners are for you. I’m really feeling depressed now that I allowed my self to consume so much of it for the last 10 years I worry that the damage done is potentially irreversable.
