it’s crazy when you actually manage to stick to a multi-day fast (instead of giving in at 24 hours every time you try because “eh, i’ll start again tomorrow” - basically giving in to a “last supper” every time you try for a multi-day fast) because you finally get into the mode of “wow! i passed the 24 hour mark so i might as well carry on, i MUST carry on, look at me go!”, and then, along the way, you are gifted and reinforced by all these small victories like:
A good course of a fast is what reinforces you to keep going. And the only way to ensure (or come close to) a good course of a fast is to maintain your body’s electrolyte balance and definitely not underestimate its importance because “you’re fine anyway”. Whatever the conditions, fasting is always always better with electrolytes than without.
I always combined my fasts with my Uni exams, so that i can reap the benefits of good focus as well. My exam is on Tuesday. My fasting journey: have been fasting for 3 years (very occasional 24-144 hour fasts) to go from overweight back to the skinny and carved body that i had all my life before i started binging. I’m not overweight anymore, but I’m still trying to cut the last few pounds to get back to my old body. I’m almost there, before-and-after post coming soon.
