I have stepped into intermittent fasting, trying a 10:14 format, and I thought I would really struggle, but I am barely noticing it. I was never much of a breakfast person so moving my first meal to 12 isn’t hard and I usually eat dinner around 7, so I am really just cutting out some late night snacks (and trying to stick to about 1500 calories a day). I am chugging water too, but I’m not feeling THAT hungry.
Will it get harder? Am I doing something wrong? Is 10:14 not aggressive enough for significant weight loss? I don’t want to get two months in and see no results.
10:14 is almost a normal eating window. Think of it this way, you eat dinner, go to bed an hour or two later and sleep for 8 hours. Then you wake up and eat breakfast 30-60 mins later. There’s 10 hours.
Now for only weightloss, the #1 thing that matters is calories in vs calories out. So to answer your question, you can definitely lose weight eating in a 10:14 window. And yes, you’re going to feel hungry and as you get closer to your goal it’s going to get harder
Also, I just realized are you doing eating time:fasting time? Typically you’ll see it as fasting time:eating time, so 16:8 is 16 hours of fasting and 8 hour eating window.
I don’t see 10:14 working because that means you’d only be not eating for about 2 hours while being awake.
If you’re only eating at 12 and lastly at 7 that’s more of a 17:7 which would be more effective. Most people start with a 16:8 so that would be a great start.
I currently do a 2-3 hour window myself and honestly it’s pretty easy to work up to. Especially drinking black tea, coffee, and water with electrolytes in it. I love how it fits for working full time and being in 2/3 time school.
The social aspect becomes easy when you shift your eating window around to meet your obligations. Also realize that just because everyone else is eating doesn’t mean you have to eat, you just can sip an iced tea and still chat with people.
