I am quite experienced with normal fasting, omad daily and weekly 48 hours with occasionally 3 to 7 day fasts. What advantages except for efficiency (1 day equals 3 days) does dry fasting have over normal fasting?
I’ve noticed my caffeine headaches are non-existent on a dry fast, its like you move so quickly through detox or initial detox your body never has a chance to react negatively to the withdrawal where as with every low calorie or water fast I do, I always have those 3 awful days of headaches that make me want to give up before emerging sometime on the fourth day feeling better.
I like water fasting for most things. If I have a health issue, joint pain, skin problem, I can expect that to be gone within 5 days of a well prepared dry fast. I cant say that for water fasting. I consider dry fasting the scalpel and water fasting the aftercare/maintain
Some people feel better without water (less cold, less hungry and more energy).
The hormonal response is different so some people report that they have, during prolonged dry fasting, psychedelic-like episodes (a bit exagerated but you have the idea) and I think this is because of the potential increase in oxytocin which can come with water restriction. I also wonder if dopamine could also be increased (levels were increased in a study with rats).
