Any tips for 5 days water only?

Only tap water, with a sprinkle of salt, already one day in, doing this because of a video on the channel Yes Theory, thought would be cool to add it to my bucket list, and was the easiest one there. I have no idea how to do that and I think asking people who did it would be better than reading some internet article. I already knew about autophagy and thought 5 days would be enough to stimulate it and not cause any damage to my body, so what’s the longest time you can stay without eating that is healthy

The short answer is: “This is an impossible question to answer since nobody knows your exact situation.”

The long answer is:

If someone is at a healthy BMI, then any extended fast would be unhealthy, as the body would start eating at their organs for sustenance since there isn’t a lot of fat present.

While fasting, you are simultaneously depleting your body of resources and losing fat. The goal is to do as much of the latter as possible before the former becomes too difficult to deal with.

The longest time you can fast healthily depends on your fat reserves, whether you’re properly supplementing with electrolytes or not, whether or not you have any health conditions, whether you’re a minor and your body isn’t through growing yet, etc.

And even then, while in a depleted state, you are more vulnerable. Any injury will take longer to heal, It will be harder to put muscle on if you’re working out, Your immune system will be suppressed, etc.

It’s entirely possible that you can be fasting healthily, and then situations change because you catch a virus and suddenly the fast is no longer healthy to do.
