Awful fake hunger pangs after sugar

I’ve been doing great recently with intermittent fasting, not missing a day since January 1st!

I have also been practicing cleaner eating and having way less sugar than I used to.

Yesterday within my eating window I had quite a bit of chocolate and am now regretting it. This morning I woke up feeling hungover with dry mouth and intense hunger pains. I’ve read online that this might be something to do with high blood sugar and even type 2 diabetes so I’m a little concerned.

Should I carry on fasting today or take a break and try and regulate everything.

What is the best port of call when it comes to consuming sugar in the future? Or is my body just not equipped for that anymore?

Thanks in advance!

In my experience, if I have a lot of carbs before fasting, the feeling of hunger is more intense. I’m kind of in the same boat as you right now – I caved and had some pie last night before fasting. Through the night and this morning, I feel more hungry than usual, but as I mentioned, this is normal for me after having carbs as a last meal. I’ve had glucose testing done within the last year, so I know my blood sugar is normal and I’m not diabetic. My plan today is to just continue my 16 hour fast and go on as usual with cico/macros.

As with anything else, if you’re very concerned and feel abnormal, perhaps a call to your doctor is the way to go.

Cheers!

This happens to me if I have too many carbs. I usually have a piece of toast with dinner and crackers with lunch, thats it. I was super hung over yesturday, had a bagel for lunch, then a piece of pizza, then 3 pieces of toast for dinner. My stomach was actually hurting from hunger when I woke up this morning lol
