Day 2 of a 5-day water fast 🫠

Hooo am I feeling the pinch rn! I’m 42 hours in, this is the furthest I’ve gotten in a fast since 2020 - since then I’ve mostly done IF, 24 hrs or 36 hrs. Fighting the urge to eat even though I’m not actually hungry, when I stop to think about it.

Feeling a bit disappointed by scale results earlier. I’m 33 F, 5’4”/163 cm, starting weight 80.9 kg/178 lbs, on Sunday morning. This afternoon (I know, I should weigh at the same time every day but equally I haven’t eaten anything since Sunday night) I got on and was 80.7 kg/basically 178 lbs still.

I have been quite active since starting. I go for two dog walks a day, one at least an hour. Been taking electrolytes and drinking water + 1 mug of green tea in the morning, with the occasional cup of chamomile tea. I know it’s only the end of day 2 but the disappointment of the scales is making the siren call of food even harder to resist! Is 5 days even long enough to see weight loss results or am I better off doing rolling fasts instead?

As you can probably tell, patience is a virtue that I don’t really have, though I’m working on it 🙃 any wisdom/support very welcome!

Hi. Conservatively, you’ll lose “maybe” 10 lbs in 5 days, half of which you’ll gain back on re-feed I may be wrong - someone else may have the correct numbers.
Since you have experience with IF, 5 days is a good set up to start rolling 36s, 48s, etc, depending on your goals.

Edit: your body is more than likely holding onto water - but- you’re definitely losing fat.You may not be losing weight, but you are losing fat being at a caloric deficit. You’ve come this far so keep at it- it’s only 3 more days. You’re going to get the whoosh effect anytime now.

I am on my day 5 of fast and I lost little weight day 1 but nothing on 2nd, gained on the 3rd and then on the 4th and the 5th day I lost 0.7 & 1 kg and feel a sudden clarity. On the 3rd day, I was so ravenous and almost broke the fast but persisted and here I am. So I understand how you feel wondering if its worth the torture (that’s how I felt). Keep going.

Pleased to report I made it through the day without cracking. I did do lots of online food shopping/browsing without ever actually buying anything. Won’t be doing that again tomorrow… very unhelpful. I also realised I’ve accidentally quit vaping which I seem to have totally forgotten about, a nice unexpected bonus 😂

Nearly 48 hours in and now in bed so safe from the snack attacks! I’m having some hunger pangs so I’m looking forward to waking up tomorrow and seeing if the pangs are gone. And being gifted 8ish more hours of fasting 😇
