Fasting as a tool and weight.

I’ve been reading a lot recently about the obesity (the obesity code) and in there, many mechanisms have been explained. Fasting has been mentioned as one of the key tools.

My question is this- if we are, say, overweight and we do the good diet and fasting periods, when does our body stop dropping weight and stays on a certain weight?

Like… If my current set weight (or as I call it - weight thermostat) is at 105kg, and I implement these practices, will my body keep on dropping the weight forever if I do it correctly? Or does it have some sort of mechanism to reach a balanced/“good” weight and then stop? If so, how does it work?

Because if, I say, fast often and eat properly, why wouldn’t I think that my body will, let’s say, go to 80kg which is okay and probably preferable, to 70kg, to 60kg, to 50kg and then even less and I may have serious health problems? When and how does the weight drop decrease if you’d like to stay at a healthy place?

I’m sorry if it’s not entirely fasting, but I figure it has a lot to do with the same mechanisms since fasting is a big part of this process.

When you clean a bathroom, do you continue to clean it once it’s been cleaned, or do you wait for a reason to clean it again (e.g. the accumulation of perceived filth)?

Fasting is a lever. If you are at your desired weight, why would you continue to fast, save for occasional mental clarity?

This seems like a more theoretical set of questions. Unless you do not have a perceived goal/ideal weight, it is possible to continue fasting into dangerous weight limits. As another commenter mentioned, that is for a different sub.

Once you hit your ideal weight, you resume eating without fasting, until you exceed your goal weight and can utilize fasting once again. Fung says he does a week long extended fast once a year for maintenance. He likely continues doing general IF, but is at maintenance now.

dropping weight forever sounds a bit excessive but theoretically you could fast yourself all the way to dangerous levels (anorexia) but then you’ll want to switch subs

Once you reach dangerously low levels of body fat tissue your body will gradually lower its RMR to ensure survival but it should be common sense that you can’t ditch into that territory “just by accident”

No offense but you’ve a weird line of questioning, almost like a child, I encourage you to start over by actually reading the book “The obesity code” this time before starting a fast.

Once you start the process many things become clear. Target weights are mobile, very. Especially as you realise what really is a healthy weight… Most of us have plenty to safely lose. It really comes down to what you’re comfortable with. Regarding the idea of stopping loss, OMAD works just fine

Yes, your body has a mechanism to reach a balanced weight and then stop. This is discussed at length in the book. Your body adjusts its metabolism in response to your energy intake. It essentially wants to stay at a certain “set point.” This “set point” is affected by insulin. Lowering insulin through IF can shift your “set point” downwards, but it won’t keep shifting it downwards forever — this may be the part you are missing. Your body will find a new set point that applies under the lower-insulin conditions of IF, and will want to stay there, adjusting its metabolism as necessary to make that happen.

What Ive heard is that you have to add in exercise or up the exercise. Or you have to add in longer fasts because the body adapts to anything. I remb when the snake diet guy moved 400lb ppl into his house they lost alot at first but after a while their metabolism slowed down.
