I’ve been inconsistently fasting for a few years and now I do a very loose OMAD, I eat one big regular meal a day, and snack the remainder of the time on nuts, dairy etc. I’m also fairly keto/low-carb. I usually stop eating around 10-11pm, have a coffee with heavy cream in the morning \~9am, and usually have my meal around 2-3pm, then snack the rest of the day.
I’m thinking of going back to fasting just for the stem cell/HGH benefits but I’m wondering how should I incorporate it into a regular schedule
Commenting because I’m in the same boat and would really like to find some solid answers.
From this video with Dr. Rhonda Patrick and Dr. Guido Kroemer, it seems that we don’t know the exact amount of time it takes for a person to reach autophagy yet. They also mention that while fasting for 4 days, people typically lost 1-2% of their body weight.
From everything that I’ve read, watched, or listened to, the lowest amount of time I’ve ever heard recommended to enter autophagy is 36 hours, but there are others say that it takes days.
It also feels like I’ve heard a lot of people note that women should be more cautious when fasting to keep our hormones balanced, but I haven’t heard anyone elaborate on how fasting alters that balance specifically or what precautions could be taken to still have a positive effect.
