I want to try fasting for a single day to know what it feels like. What should I watch out for?

Hi! I want to try not eating for a single day and try to test out what it feels like. Note that this is merely to satisfy my own curiosity. But I need to be careful first since this is my first time. Does drinking count as breaking the fasting? Are there specific things I’m not allowed to do?

Answer

No, water doesn’t break the fast, in fact, it is important to stay hydrated (and it helps with hunger a bit as well). For 24 hour fast you don’t electrolytes, you can stick to water, or if you want, unsweetened herbal tea or coffee. Good luck!

Answer

It’s your fast you can do it anyway you want. Some people do just water, others broth or electrolytes, others up to 500 calories, and still some do fat only. It’s a personal choice and what makes you feel best. Don’t let perfection be the enemy of good. Also no matter how long you’ve fasted (I’ve been do it for years) the first day is ROUGH. It’s not a real reflection of fasting in general. I love not eating days but I still hate the first fasting day after being off for a while.

Answer

I go from dinner to dinner. That way I’m sleeping thru 1/3 of the fasting. 🤣 I drink only water. You can have black coffee or unsweetened green or regular tea. But yeah that’s it. Good luck. It’s not as bad as you think once you set your mind to it.
