Is my goal weight enough?

SW 196 CW 171 GW 140…. Am I being ambitious enough with that goal? 140 was when I felt the best physically (not outright restricting calories, not eating to excess) and liked my body the most (solid T&A and enough curves to not look basic without looking chubby) but BMI says that’s hovering on overweight and I’m not sure if I should be more aggressive in getting thin. What do you think?

Answer

Perhaps you have a broader frame than average. BMI runs on averages. If it’s the weight you feel best at, that’s a good target.

It certainly isn’t worth losing weight just to be at a lower weight if you’re sacrificing muscle to be there. You’ll be healthier in the long run if you can keep up your muscle mass and fitness.

Take your waist measurement. Less than half your height is a good target.

Answer

You will see as you lose weight. Try to get to that weight and see how you will feel. If you will feel great its ok regardless of the BMI. My BMI ideal weight is 10 kgs lower of the weight I actually feel really good at.
