Just starting out! Help: Refeed Questions?

I just completed my first 48hrs of the snake juice and broke fast with a blood orange and some pineapple, while my food is cooking (chickapea curry & couscous). I’m a vegan and a farmer so I’ll be breaking my fast with pretty clean foods and homegrown veggies.

I plan to do 72hr fasts or 90hr fasts since I have experience with prolonged fasts.

I just wanted to know is it okay to break the Snake Diet with fruit? And are y’all breaking fast with 1 meal or 2? And do you think it’s okay to take a protein shake during non-fasting days?

Thanks for the help! ☺️🌱

Agreed. The point of snake diet is a feasting/fasting protocol. Fasting is weight-loss. Fasting removes the unwanted crap from your body, the Autophagy Effect. Refeeds most likely will kick yourself out of ketosis (even if for only a couple hours based on what you eat) as it is the insulin response which triggers repair of the cells. Start with low insulin foods so would be best to eat your fruit after some veggies. And down the line watch out with the veganism. As you get close to lean, bio-availability of foods becomes more important which is why Cole goes on intermittent rants about how vegans can’t cut the last 15lbs. If you’re gung ho about veganism you’ll need to find caloric dense foods that arent aided by suppliments: “if you need to suppliment, your diet sucks” -Cole Robinson.

Thank you! Funny enough I have no sweet tooth, I don’t like almost all sweet things! 😂😂 my fave fruits are all the sour and bitter ones so I thought maybe it wouldn’t be so bad to have a grapefruit or blood orange 😅 but I can definitely survive without the fruit. Thanks for the help and good luck!

Answer

The point of the initial fasts is to jump-start your body into ketosis (fat-burning mode), however, eating fruit, which is basically sugar, kicks you out of ketosis and makes the diet more difficult. If you eat low carb/keto then you reduce hunger pangs, diarrhea, and cravings.
