I’m not a doctor & know you’re not asking for any advice like this but this over the counter medication changed my life (I have GERD) and I haven’t looked back since I started taking it 5 years ago -‘Omeprazole’ (mine gets delivered via subscription from Amazon). Anyways, if diet changes still don’t give you relief, maybe investigate if this medicine could help you?? I swear if changed my freaking life!!! I can eat onions, garlic & spicy foods again… hallelujah. I know how truly miserable GERD can make your life, hope you are able to find some meals that don’t give you horrible heart burn!!

If your BMI is over 35 with GERD you might consider having RNY Gastric Bypass surgery. I suffered from severe GERD (acid rising in the night into my throat and up my nose) from my earliest memories as a kid till the day I had surgery. RNY specifically besides the weight loss effects changes your anatomy to bypass the pyloric valve and for most GERD is resolved the day of surgery.

Whatever you do get it under control (medication, surgery, behavioral changes) because it does cause damage (can lead to cancer of the esophagus, dental issues, etc.)

Hope you find some relief. I know it sucks.
