Pregnancy experiences with IF

I’m due any day now, with my first. Wanted to share some thoughts and experiences I found by eventually incorporating IF into my pregnancy.

Before pregnancy IF was my daily habit. I managed both ADHD symptoms and had found a great balance getting to the weight I was comfortable with while eating satisfying meals. Win win. When I got pregnant I couldn’t find enough satisfying info supporting iF and uneasy I stopped temporarily unsatisfied with the answers I recieved by my care providers.

Eventually I was driven to restart. Partially due to excess weight gain which I felt was putting me at higher risk for GD and hypertension which runs in my family. That risk outweighed my concerns over re-establishing IF.

However since going ‘back’ I’ve seen a LOT of improvement I a lot of ‘standardly’ accepted pregnancy symptoms and I feel really great even being 38 weeks pregnant. One thing I will say is that I gained weight slowly over my pregnancy partially due to the positive relationship I had with food because of IF prior to being pregnant. That didn’t fall apart right away, but when you have more surplus days and no defiict days it’s just what happens.

IF schedule: 10/11am (first meal) to 5/7 last meal. I tend to go to sleep at midnight.

Improvements: appropriately reduced weight gain, less frequent urination, better sleep cycles, Less interrupted sleep cycles because of decreased frequency in urination, extreme decrease in evening acid reflux, extreme reduction in joint and limb pain, little to no swelling and or bloating.

All of these benifits were are are exceptionally notable to me because I’ve had some more relaxed nights where if I do eat late I suffer a chain reaction of consiquences after. After late night eating you can read for about two days after the opposite of that list I put above. Including extreme insomnia, joint pain, bloating, horrible acid reflux ect.

More details: My meals consist generally of a higher fat and protien breakfast. Meat and sometimes a bit of veg. I usually get ‘snacky’ sometime in the middle, and pregnancy wise adore oranges and apples these days. We usually have another smallish meal. Soup, or whatever. I make my own sourdough bread but I’m not a very Carby person so usually it’s a small carb, but it’s not especially focused. I eat to satisfaction. I drink electrolytes in the evening a lot. Sleep wise I sleep in phases now, pee twice a night usually. Pregnancy fatigue comes and goes, I still get stiff and really achy in the evening but by the morning I’m in almost no pain at all.
