Quick question, looking for encouragement

So I’ve been intermittent fasting for a little over a week now (8 hours on, 16 hours off). I’ve also been upping my veggie intake during the day and going on an hour/hour and a half hike 2-3 times a week for extra exercise, on top of doing some small muscle building routine with a medicine ball at home (which is something I’ve been doing for a couple months). Problem is that I feel god awful, worse than I’ve probably ever felt physically. I feel run down and sick since after the first day I started. Is this normal ?

I chalked it up to the fact I’m not eating as many calories causing me to be low on energy and maybe suppress my immune system for the first few days, but I’m still super low on energy and generally feeling “sick” in a way I can’t put my finger on, mentally and physically I just feel very tired, but I can’t sleep very well either. I’m feeling super discouraged, I’d love to hear any advice or words of encouragement. I’ve never been healthier in my habits, but I’ve also never felt so sick like this. 🥲

Answer

How much are you eating? Have you tried getting more calories? It’s a lot easier than we think to undereat when eating really clean.

16/8 is basically skipping breakfast and night snacks. It shouldn’t make you weak and sick.

That, or you’re having withdrawal from something. Guessing sugar.

Hi, I have no idea what’s going on, I’ve felt fine, I don’t have this super mental clarity or super extra energy people talk about, but I am doing pretty well! Perhaps you’d like to try and see it in a different light? Not as being sick, but as getting used to a big change. Everyone is different, so maybe give it a little more time, if you decide it’s really not for you, then it’s not. Best of luck.
