I have been doing IF (water fasting) for about a week, switching between 20:4 for three days and then 16:8 for one day, repeat. I’m trying to follow MyFitnessPal’s recommendation to eat \~1240 calories a day but I’ve noticed it often gives me \~2-300 extra calories a day based on my steps. I usually walk about 10K steps a day but in bits and pieces and not really as a “workout.” It doesn’t feel challenging to me.
I’m also a Muslim so dry fast for a whole month in Ramadan + occasional dry fasts during the whole year, and I only ever feel good when fasting – have never encountered health issues, no impact on my cycle etc.
Even so, MyFitnessPal has me wondering – should I be eating back the 2-300 calories I burn or is it ok to stick to 1240 a day?
I would not eat back calories. Why?
