I read a research study recently, which suggested that higher amounts of physical activity help prevent cancer because it burns off sugar instead of feeding it to cancer cells.
So, when is the best time to exercise then? Would it be directly after a meal? 30 minutes after a meal? within two hours? or something completely different?
Strong convincing evidence that physical activity reduces risk of colorectal cancer, with probable (still strong) evidence it also reduces breast (post menopause) and endometrium (uterus). Mechanism by which this occurs; reduced inflammation, abdominal fat deposits, IGF-1, reproductive hormones, while also providing enhanced antioxidant defence mechanism. Exact type, dose, and timing of physical activity remains unclear.
In the morning fasted state / before breakfast would more readily tap into your glycogen reserves - preventing excess sugar floating around.
After meals (within 2 hours) would help prevent insulin spikes, which cancer also loves.
The best time to exercise is all the time!
But seriously… Exercise can consist of: aerobic, anaerobic, HIIT, strength training, hypertrophy, sauna, cold exposure, fasting or carb restricted eating (metabolic improvements similar to that of exercise).
To speak generally of exercise with the purpose of reducing cancer cell activity or quantity I would recommend also to exercise in the morning before eating. (I take electrolytes and a tad bit of sugar to help transport the electrolytes.)
Why? Cancer cells thrive off of anabolic signal pathways from insulin and igf-1. Fasted exercise will promote long lasting changes to the metabolism:
Not going to edit. My Pinkys hurt from holding my phone lol.
Hope this helps!
You dont burn sugar you burn calories. Artificial sugar feeds cancer cells period doesn’t matter how much you eat. And it is best to wait at least an hour after eating to workout so you can let your food digest.
