When you started did you feel a clarity of mind or lack of brain fog?

I’m on my 4th day of fasting for 13 hours and the last couple days I have had a bit of mental clarity I have not had in years. Have any of you experienced anything like this? Does it continue? Just curious as I am new to this. Thank you.

Yes, my brain fog goes away when I fast. I’ve done keto in the past and that’s when I noticed a very big improvement in my brain fog. I tracked it down to certain foods that give me brain fog. Mostly gluten, but some FODMAP foods also give me brain fog and nervousness.

It might be that doing fasting for so long eliminates the foods that give you brain fog, and you might be able to track them down.

Or it might be the fasting itself. Idk

I’ve absolutely experienced this during extended medical fasts. Day 4-7 felt literally transcendental. Makes sense why fasting has been used as a spiritual practice. I have plans to add fasting rituals into my personal spiritual practice for exactly this reason.

I’ve been doing it just over a month now (16:8 with some 18:6 sprinkled in), and I’ve noticed for the last week or so I don’t need coffee in the morning! I mean… I’ll have one usually around 3 as a pick-me-up, but my energy in the morning is so much different than it was before!
