Where do meal replacement shakes fit best into fasting? How about OMAD?

Hey all. I’m new-ish to IF, but have been trying it out the past few months. I started OMAD right before October and lost 20lb in about 3 weeks. Since then I haven’t lost much weight, but I feel that may be expected in all of this. Started at about 225 and now am at 205 usually. Goal for now is 190lb. I think if I do things right 195lb by New Years is doable, but a pretty bad head cold is hindering me a lot.

Next step is continuing the good habits and trying a wider range of time for eating to get more nutrients into my diet. I figured a 18-6 split keeps me similar to OMAD, but allows a little room for me since I do shift work and OMAD was pretty hard to do. I think giving myself 2pm-8pm for eating will be best and let me worry less. With that I figure I’d try a meal replacement shake as part of my meals. I bought a bag of the Ka’Chava stuff and like it, but I wanted to see if there is a best time to use a shake within my hours of eating?

Answer

For me, I do almost OMAD. But I can’t eat enough protein or calories to hit my goal in one meal (trying to body recomp and keep my metabolism from dropping as I lose fat).

So I like to break my fast with a shake and then eat dinner a little bit later. Or eat dinner and then have a shake later. The shakes are more calorie/protein dense so I can hit my numbers without eating till I’m sick
