To get used to water fasting would it be recommended to fast one day then not, to get used to it
Not a good idea. Men take 72 hours to go into ketosis while women take 48 hours on a water fast. You are setting yourself up for a perpetual headache if you do the one day on, one day off cycle. As your blood sugar goes low, the headache starts. You just need to either sleep it off or relax. Once you cross the hump, you will be in a state of zen. Your senses will be sharper . You’ll be able to smell food clearly but not feel hungry. It’s an eye opener because all the food you love may not smell all that good as you think it does when your senses are dulled. You’ll be able to smell whether the herbs or spices really go together and if the oil used is fresh or rancid. Remember to take electrolytes once in 3days so that your potassium levels don’t go down. Low potassium can lead to death in some cases. Break your fast with watery fruit and not with cooked food or meat. The longer you fast, the more care you need to take in breaking your fast. Do not exercise other than going for a walk. Don’t make sudden movements as you can feel dizzy and loses consciousness. Don’t drive when you start a fast as your reflexes won’t be that good and you will be distracted by headaches, fantasies about food and dizziness. Drink enough water. Read Dr Fuhrman’s book on fasting as he is a proper MD who has fasted and everything in his book is backed by actual studies. Good luck!
