Advice on alcohol when ending a fast

Hi,

I’ve been fasting for 14 days and was planning to go out and have a few drinks tomorrow after I’ve broken my fast with a small meal, but worried what that might to to my body. I don’t want to bombard it with alcohol and end up causing damage. Or end up with a bad stomach/vomiting. Would it be better to end my fast tonight? Or just not drink at all? Any advice much appreciated.

I was in a simmilar situation a few weeks ago , only my fast was shorter . I decided not to end it early but instead to have less drinks and trust me , because of the fasting, i was pretty faded after a few beers haha so i didnt even feel the need to drink any strong alcohol . But thats just my experience

Fourteen days is a long time. I would suggest breaking your fast today with some broth or soup. Something very light! You have to be careful with refeeding after long fasts and ease back into eating food. Personally, I would spend probably 3 days easing back into food after an EF that long. Take it easy!

Congratulations on your fast! I know you’ve already broken it, but for future fasts I saw in r/fasting that refeeding with carcinogens like alcohol or cigarettes increases your risk of cancer… those aren’t the building blocks you want to give your hungry cells. (Alcohol increases our risk of breast cancer even if we’re not fasting, but that’s a separate conversation.) Happy fasting!

Don’t drink too much. A.mixed drink that’s not super fruity. Honestly, you’ll just have too see how it effects you. I stopped a seven day fast with drinking and felt NOTHING but I normally don’t feel a lot with alcohol do to my own body chemistry (It’s the red head in me, alcohol, pain, pain meds, all those things are different for red heads than normal)

Then I ended a three day fast, again with eating out and a drink, and the alcohol again didn’t do Jack crap.

Theoretically it’s supposed to affect you MORE in a fasted state, but apparently for red heads…

Anecdotal at best, all I can figure it that my body processes stuff so slow after a fast that I just can’t get tipsy.

So, you’ll really just have to figure it out. I’d not do more than one drink though, regardless, for the sake of gut bacteria.
