Day 5 on 16:8, dizziness and fatigue after meals ...?

Hi everyone

First, about me: I’m 35 year old male, started at 80.1kg (176.6lbs), currently 79.5kg (175.2lbs), 171cm tall (5’7”), non smoker for a month (again), trying to lose weight. I started 16:8 five days ago, skipping breakfast for it, only water in that time. Other than strong feelings of hunger until noon, it’s been going well. Goal weight is 69kg (152lbs).

But: Yesterday and today, after lunch, I felt super energyless and even a little dizzy. It’s weird because I made sure I get every important nutrient in and some sugar too.

Is this a known side effect that subsides after X days or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks!

Answer

Check your blood sugar the sooner the better.

And I second what others say: break your lunch into at least 2 parts: one for “opening” the eating window and one for 2 or 3 hours later. Will be way easier. Also instead of energy drink try freshly brewed coffee if you can. It’s really a game changer.

Answer

Could be Postprandial hypotension - low blood pressure after a meal as your blood goes to your digestive system. Given your age, I’d get it checked out. Breaking your fast slowly with some small stuff might also be good. Walking after a meal would also be good.
