This just proves how little we know about nutrition and the body. It’s mind blowing. Get your bloodwork checked, and see if your levels are normal. I’ve stopped freaking out about every little thing. Maybe in 20 years we will learn the levels were wrong or misguided. Who knows? Eat a balanced diet, exercise as much as you can and enjoy life. Can’t stress about every time you have a piece of candy, or if your supplement is going to make levels too high or too low.
One thing you should be diligent about is getting supplements from reliable places that have 3rd party testing in place. There is very little oversight into the supplement industry because it isn’t considered medical.
There is nothing really to discuss. It’s know for quite some time that Vitamin D supplementation doesn’t perform well in outcome trials.
The question should not be if low or high levels are preferable. The question should rather be if supplementation for low blood levels is beneficial.
The link was to an article that spoke of a trial study published in another magazine so it did not contain all the information I’m sure but the general gist is it’s a study of about 250,000 people over a course of 7 years during which roughly 7% of the subjects died. The results were that Vitamin D in high doses may lead to death… Is that correct?
This is bullshit. How can you develop high levels of vitamin D? The main source of vitamin D is when our skin gets exposed to sunlight - UVB rays. It takes 30 minutes to reach the maximum amount of vitamin D that our body can produce this way, then it stops.There is plenty of people that spend hours a day exposed to the sun without any negative consequences.
