How do you cook for others while fasting?

I don’t want to mess my fasting schedule whenever someone wants a salad or pasta. You have to taste for seasoning though. My method is to taste, then spit it out. I wonder if that can ruin a fast?

If they’re old enough to cook for themselves, I don’t. For teenagers, I’ll prep ahead of time by making taco meat, pizza crusts, seasoned chicken for salads, etc. and have it ready in the fridge. When asked ‘What food is there?’, they’re used to hearing ‘Go look’ 😂

I cook for 3 young kids while I’m fasting. I do feel like there’s some added mental benefit of being so closely exposed to food while fasting. I do chew/taste/spit while I’m cooking for others and still have all the benefits of fasting, e.g. weight loss, ketosis, higher energy.

I’m not saying there’s no impact, but I don’t see what my body would even do with the few calories I may injest in that process.

I cook daily for my husband. I just have to trust my instincts when I cook and I’m fasting. I did a 40 day fast and cooked daily, and luckily he said the food was always good. I don’t even taste and spit. I just have to trust myself…

Answer

I just don’t cook unless my partner is home! All the food is for him, anyway, so it should be seasoned to his taste. When the time comes to season, I just walk over a spoon of it and ask him what it needs.
