What’s your goal?

The answer will be different depending on what your goals are, and your individual body composition. Getting to the “normal” BMI range is a good goal for some people, but many bodybuilders are technically considered “overweight” by BMI standards due to the amount of muscle they have.

Answer

I set a big goal, of 50 lbs. This goal was based on the weight I was last time I felt good and liked the way I looked. I am down 33 lbs since mid August. But I break down my goal into smaller pieces. My next mini goal is to hit 35 lbs lost by next weekend. My last 15 lbs I have given myself until April, it’s my 19th Wedding Anniversary and I want to plan a vow renewal for our 20th. So my goal will shift once I hit my target weight. I will assess if I want more weight loss at that point. So I have an 18 month is plan. My goal weight has nothing to do with BMI, and more to do with my self acceptance.

It’s different for everyone. I’m 5’3 if you google it says healthy weight is 107-140.

I once did a muscle analysis and was told that I am actually very strong and muscular. I carry most of my extra weight in my back, arms, and thighs. For reference, I am currently 238lbs and wear a solid size 16 jeans (Levi non stretchy type) and a 1x top. My friend is my height and weight and she uses size 22 pants and xl shirts because she carries most of her weight at her belly everywhere else is relatively thinner.

At this point, I will just be happy to be under 200. I haven’t seen under 200 on a scale since elementary school. My goal weight I set is 175. Once I get closer, I might adjust, but for now, I think that might be a weight that could work for me. I am scared of becoming too flabby like I have seen people that get really skinny after being obese. I would love to just buy clothes at normal stores and not the dark corner of the third floor of macys plus size section.

What the TDEE calculators say my M/49/5’7” ideal weight is.

But thats not written in stone. I may decide I would like to lose more when I hit my ‘ideal’ weight of 145LB…or…I may decide that without a facial fat scaffold I have more wrinkles or saggy jowls than I realised and decide to put back on 10LB to fill my face back out a bit and live with a little more belly fat than I hoped.

Cole Robinson says it best: What’s the best weight for me? Ripped.

There’s always gonna be some variation based on body type. For my height ripped is supposed to be around 125 lbs but for my body frame it might be closer to 130. Maybe even 140.
