Answer

I was still getting thirsty at night a little when I began my next dry-fast, but I’d attained a healthy weight so I reckoned there’d be plenty of water in me now to carry me through the next one. My chronic-pain symptoms were flaring up again pretty dire by that time as well so I wanted to dive back in rather than suffer those for longer than necessary.

No meter needed.

Answer

Ketone strips or a ketone reader: you only need to check your keto levels if you are starting a Keto diet and are unsure of the amount of carbohydrates ingested.
These tools can help you in the beginning but are by no means essential.
They are not needed during dry fasting.
