Intense nausea and gnawing hunger?

For a few months I was fasting very easily. 20 hours a day was no problem, but suddenly if I go more than 10, I get extremely sick to my stomach and have this incredible gnawing hunger like my stomach is trying to digest itself.

I don’t understand what changed. My diet, my medications are all the same. My stress level is much higher but I wouldn’t think that would affect how my stomach feels.

I’ve tried tea, coffee, and chugging water during these times to get through it, but it’s undeniable.

How can I get back to where I was before?

Answer

Stress can absolutely be a factor. I usually drink ice water (I mean as cold as you can get it) and that helps with hunger pains and use an ice pack on the back of my neck/head for headaches or nausea. You can do it!

Answer

Gnawing hunger is literally how I described to my doctor the way I was feeling. Also felt a bit like heartburn only in my stomach, and I was nauseous too. I was afraid I had an ulcer.

Turned out to be gastritis, which is not an ulcer, but can develop into one.
